don't accept the status quo

Maybe like me you’ve had a health crisis and are frustrated with the conventional medical approaches that treat symptoms but do little to change the quality of your life or prevent the next health crisis.

Health Crisis As blessing

In September 2013 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer (read my story here). My doctor at the time wanted to operate on me later that same week.

I was out of my mind with fear. But instead of surrendering, I began educating myself about my illness. I consumed books on conventional, integrative, and alternative medicine. I studied new lifestyle approaches and what they were doing in other forward-thinking countries. I consulted with experts in urology and integrative medicine. I made radical changes to my diet and lost 30 pounds in 3 months. After a year it started to feel like I was aging backwards.

And within two years, I was cancer-free. Without surgery, without drugs, without conventional treatment of any kind.

I no longer need anyone to tell me how to take care of myself. And that's what I want for you.

what I learned

You can become a Health Warrior at any time in your life, no matter what your health status is.

Reversing disease is possible: you can reverse diabetes, heart disease, and many kinds of cancer through purely natural lifestyle interventions like diet, staying active and managing your stress.

Independence from drugs: you can reduce or eliminate dependence on drugs to manage the symptoms of chronic illness simply by adopting a healthier lifestyle.

Slowing down aging is not science fiction: you can't stop aging but you can slow it down,  enabling you to live with more vigor well into middle age and beyond.

The Health Warrior Way Prescription

The Health Warrior Way framework represents best practices in health and wellness, based on the latest scientific research as well as centuries-old healing traditions. In tests on myself and many other men and women I've found that these practices can strengthen, nourish and protect mind, body and spirit.

The Health Warrior Way is predicated on three principles:

  • Health Warriors take control of their health and well-being to live their best possible life. They're not victims and they don’t make excuses.

  • Health Warriors know that real healing and wellness happen in community. They refuse to suffer or celebrate in isolation. They hold each other accountable for achieving their health and wellness goals. They know that the bigger the movement the better the outcomes.

  • Health Warriors track and measure progress toward their health and wellness goals. They don’t leave their best possible lives up to chance or genetics.

The practices you will adopt once you begin your Health Warrior Way journey are simple yet powerful:

NUTRITION: feed your body high quality fuel and it will answer the call for years to come.

MOVEMENT: treat your body like the complex, high-performance machine that it is. Put it through its paces regularly; it can more than handle it. In fact, it will soon begin to crave it.

MINDFULNESS: learn to control your mind. Stay present to avoid obsessing about a past you can’t change and a future you don’t control.

CURIOSITY: become a lifelong learner. Find something that fascinates you and learn everything you can about it. Feed your brain.

LOVE: train yourself for optimism, whatever your circumstances. Cultivate the patience and equanimity to find the learning hidden in every challenging situation.

COMMUNITY: surround yourself with people that bring out the best in you. Use them to hold you accountable, a hedge against backsliding into unconscious, unhealthy behaviors.

NATURE CONNECTION: don’t forget that you are fundamentally a biological organism in a vast natural world, with its own timeless rhythms and laws. Immerse yourself in nature regularly to get back in touch with this essential part of your being.

PURPOSE: find and relentlessly pursue that thing that stirs your soul, fills your life with meaning and makes you look forward to getting out of bed in the morning.
