  • Train yourself for optimism, whatever your circumstances.

  • Cultivate the patience and equanimity to find the learning hidden in every challenging situation.

  • Be grateful for what you have, not resentful for what you want.

  • Accept that you have no control over external events and that the only thing you can control is how you react to those events.

  • Be very discerning about what you develop attachments to.

  • Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.

  • Keep your sense of wonder alive.

  • See things as they are, not as they ought to be.
